Bayburt City Water Treatment Plant: Soft and Healthy Water with Advanced Technology

Under the supervision of İl Bank, we built one of Türkiye's most modern and comprehensive drinking water treatment plants for the Bayburt Municipality on a turnkey basis, ending the city's decades-long hard water problem. With a capacity of 22,000 m³/day, the plant not only purifies water but also serves as a public health project that directly improves the quality of life for the people of Bayburt. The plant is being operated by us for one year under the contract.

Challenge: High Hardness and Lime Problem

The catchment area, Bayburt's primary water source, had a very high hardness level of 40-45 French Hardness (Fr). This caused extensive calcification in plumbing, heaters, and appliances, leading to economic losses and negatively impacting the water's taste and usability.

Our Solution: Multi-Stage Advanced Treatment Process and Comprehensive Infrastructure

We designed a multi-stage process that includes the most advanced purification technologies to consistently provide the city with soft and healthy water below 15 Fr hardness.

• Powerful Oxidation and Disinfection: Taste, odor and germs in water are effectively removed with Aeration and Ozonation units.

• Precise Filtration: Ultrafiltration (UF) system retains all particles and suspended solids in the water, resulting in crystal clear water.

• Softening and Purification: A Reverse Osmosis (RO) unit softens water by removing ions such as calcium and magnesium that cause water hardness.

• Reliable Disinfection: In the final stage , Gas Chlorine disinfection ensures that water remains microbiologically safe throughout its journey through the network.

• Turnkey Project: In addition to the facility buildings, 2 fully automatic valve rooms, 1500 and 500 m³ capacity water tanks, 3000 meters of steel transmission line, pumping stations, 2000 kVA transformer and full automation systems were also constructed within the scope of the project.

Results and Social Benefit

Thanks to this massive project, the people of Bayburt have been completely relieved of the limescale problem they have been suffering from for years. The improved quality of tap water has improved residents' quality of life and extended the lifespan of household appliances. Fully automatic and uninterrupted disinfection ensures a safe and healthy water supply to the entire city 24/7.
