Highly Secure and Fully Automatic pH Control and Dosing Unit for Cooling Towers

In a cooling tower system vital to the production processes of a paper mill operating in Balıkesir, we replaced the existing dosing system, which was operating inefficiently and posing a safety risk, with a modern, safe, and fully automated unit. This project was not just an equipment replacement; it was also an engineering solution that increased operational efficiency and maximized employee safety.

Challenge: Occupational Safety Risk and Equipment Corrosion

Our client's old dosing system manually and irregularly dosed a hazardous chemical, such as 98% sulfuric acid, into the cooling tower circulation line. This posed a risk of serious safety accidents due to previous leaks, and caused scaling and corrosion in pipelines and equipment due to the inability to maintain the pH within the desired range.

Our Solution: A Highly Secure Skid Unit with Precise Control

To eliminate these risks, we designed a compact, plug-and-play dosing unit, called a "skid," built on a single platform.

Fully Automatic pH Control: Precise pH sensors and 30-liter/hour dosing pumps integrated into the 1000 m³/hour circulation line continuously and automatically dose sulfuric acid, maintaining the pH within the desired range.

High-Quality Materials: To ensure maximum resistance to hazardous chemicals, all piping and dosing pumps were selected from the highest quality PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride) material.

Occupational Safety: The closed and leak-proof system design completely eliminates the risk of chemical leaks and employee exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Results and Customer Benefits

Thanks to our new dosing unit, serious problems such as scaling and corrosion, previously caused by malfunctions and irregular dosing, have been prevented. The cooling tower's efficiency has been increased, resulting in energy savings. Most importantly, hazardous chemical leaks, one of the biggest risks within the facility, have been eliminated, creating a safe environment for employees.
